World wide, Dow is involved in human rights abuses: environmental destruction, water and ground contamination, health violations, chemical poisoning, and chemical warfare. Dow Chemical's impact is felt globally from their Midland, Michigan headquarters to New Plymouth, New Zealand. In Midland, Dow has been producing chlorinated chemicals and burning and burying its waste including chemicals that make up Agent Orange. In New Plymouth, New Zealand, 500,000 gallons of Agent Orange were produced and thousands of tons of dioxin-laced waste was dumped in agricultural fields. Dow's toxic legacies of human rights abuses traverse to agricultural fields in Central America where Dow exported EPA-banned pesticide DBCP for use on banana and pineapple crops. As a result, thousands of banana workers were exposed to DBCP and became sterile. In retail markets across the world Dow's dangerous chemicals are present as common household solvents, plastics, paints and pharmaceuticals.

Isn't this a great remake of the Dow ad? My team and I feel disgusted everytime we see it. I thought this really summed it all up.
Why can't all advertising be this honest? If that were true, I guess all the large corporations would have to take accountablity for their actions. Ahh, that would be a shame.
Sorry about all your evironmental problems up there. And thanks for the trackback. It is highly appreciated.

Excellent PR skills incorporated into the video. Too bad Agent Orange never killed a soul. Those chemicals just don't do those things to the human body. And dioxin? Last year a Russian politician was given 1000x the suposed leathal dose of dioxin and all he got was acne. The same thig the people working in the Dow plants got.
Bopahl on the other hand was a bad deal. Too bad it was Union Carbide that did that. Dow should only be chastised for stupidity in buying that chemical company.
We all need chemicals. life without them would suck. And no, I don't work for Dow (or any chemical company. I just paid attention in science class....)
You had a bad science teacher.
Dioxins are a group of 210 chemicals that have similar structures and chemical properties. Dioxins in the environment are usually a mixture of these chemicals. Dioxins are not intentionally produced. There is no known use for dioxins. They are the by-products of industrial and combustion activities. Sources of dioxins include chemical and pesticide manufacture, burning household trash, forest fires, and waste incineration. Dioxins are found at low levels in air, soil, water, sediment (the bottom of rivers, streams, and lakes), and in foods like meats, dairy, fish, and shellfish. The highest levels of dioxins are usually found in soil, sediment, and in animal fat. Much lower levels are found in air and water. Not all dioxins have the same toxicity. Toxicity is the ability to cause illness and adverse health effects. The most toxic chemical in the group is 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin (2,3,7,8- TCDD). Because it is the most toxic, 2,3,7,8- TCDD is the standard to which other dioxins are compared.
Have a nice day.
